11-6-09 New Richmond, WI - Capping off one of the most exciting seasons at Cedar Lake Speedway is the announcement that the World of Outlaw Late Model Series will again be a part of the 2010 USA Nationals on Friday, August 6th and Saturday, August 7th. Better yet, the UMP Summer Nationals will kick off its tour with a 2-day show as the first weekend of the series on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19.
The USA Nationals has grown in popularity the past few years as an unsanctioned “rogue” crown jewel delivering 3-wide races, unbelievable finishes and impressive car counts. Cedar Lake will continue with this rogue approach as the 2010 USA Nationals will be supported by World of Outlaw sanctioning while keeping Cedar Lake’s unsanctioned race format & procedures. For example, consistent with past years the event will have a hard tire rule, 24 car heat race inversion, a last chance race & other unique aspects to keep the event different from typical sanctioned events.
“The World of Outlaw Late Model Series is absolutely thrilled to be a part of the 2010 USA Nationals at Cedar Lake Speedway,” said WoOLMS director Tim Christman. “We’re looking to enhance their event, and not come in and take over the event. The event has a great history, great tradition and were glad we can be a part of that, and help enhance an already great situation they have up there.”
The USA Nationals weekend begins Thursday evening, August 5th as the WDRL Late Model series roars into town for their 50 lap $5,000 to win event. CLS expects a huge field of cars on Thursday as the best drivers in the country use the night as a tune-up for the big money show to start the next day. Friday night’s event will include qualifying, heat races & pole dash for the touring late models as well as a full program of NASCAR Late Models. Saturday features b-mains, last chance race & the 100 lap $50,000 to win main event.
“The USA Nationals has been hugely successful whether it’s been sanctioned or unsanctioned,” said Bob Kaufman co-owner of CLS “our ability to continue with the traditions we have set in place and the flexibility of World of Outlaws will no doubt make this a can’t-miss event in 2010! Better yet, the relationship with Dirt Motorsports now brings Cedar Lake fans the start of the UMP Summer Nationals in 2010”.
That’s right - in addition to the news about the USA Nationals, Cedar Lake Speedway is proud to announce that our longtime Masters event will now feature the UMP Dirtcar Summer Nationals in their only 2-day stop on the tour since 1999. “The tour historically is well-run with a ton of cars and great racing. Were excited to get the whole thing rolling at Cedar Lake”, said Jamie Nutzmann Cedar Lake’s race director. “To have the only two-day event in over 10 years is a huge honor for us and will create great momentum towards the USA Nationals!”
The Masters weekend begins on Thursday night with complete shows of local talent leading up to the two complete shows each night of the UMP SummerNational Series Late Models. Details are still being negotiated and support classes are to be announced soon. The late model portion of the show will be the first weekend event on the UMP Summer Nationals tour.
